Evolution of symmetry index in minerals

چکیده
Crystal structures of minerals are defined by a specific atomic arrangement within the unit-cell, which follows laws symmetry to each crystal system. The causes for mineral crystallize in given system have been subject many studies showing their dependency on different formation conditions, such as presence aqueous fluids, biotic activity and others. Different attempts made quantify interpret information that we can gather from studying its distribution kingdom. However, these methods mostly outdated or at least not compatible use large datasets available today. Therefore, revision index calculation has accordance with growing understanding species characteristics. In gathered data, observe gradual but significant decrease through stages evolution, solar modern day. this is neither uniform nor linear, provides further implications evolution viewpoint symmetry. temporal based number essential elements chemical formulae calculated compared explore behaviour. Minerals four eight lowest average index, while being most abundant throughout all evolution. There open questions, including those pertaining whether biological Earth influenced observed time trajectory planetary geologically active body one decreasing symmetry/increasing complexity.

Evolution of Minerals
marc h 2010 H o ll y li n d em Once upon a time there were no minerals anywhere in the cosmos. No solids of any kind could have formed, much less survived, in the superheated maelstrom following the big bang. It took half a million years before the first atoms—hydrogen, helium and a bit of lithium—emerged from the cauldron of creation. Millions more years passed while gravity coaxed these primo...
متن کاملEvolution of recorded microstructures in minerals during cooling of Zarrin intrusion, evidence for dynamic deformation
The Zarrin granitoids is located in the west of Yazd block, Central Iran. Zarrin granitoids exhibit mylonitic rocks ranging from protomylonitic to mylontic. In Zarrin granitoids examples of sub-magmatic, microstructures are represented by chessboard patterns in quartz and sub-magmatic fractures in plagioclase, indicating deformation at high-temperature conditions (T > 650º C) and the presence o...
متن کاملEvolution of uranium and thorium minerals
The origins and near-surface distributions of the ~250 known uranium and/or thorium minerals elucidate principles of mineral evolution. This history can be divided into four phases. The first, from ~4.5 to 3.5 Ga, involved successive concentrations of uranium and thorium from their initial uniform trace distribution into magmatic-related fluids from which the first U4+ and Th4+ minerals, uranin...
متن کاملEvolution of floral symmetry
Flowers can be classified into two basic types according to their symmetry: regular flowers have more than one plane of symmetry and irregular flowers have only a single plane of symmetry. The irregular condition is thought to have evolved many times independently from the regular one: most commonly through the appearance of asymmetry along the dorso-ventral axis of the flower. In most cases, t...
متن کاملA Symmetry Index for Graphs
This note introduces a quantitative measure (S(G)) of the symmetry structure of a graph G. S(G) is called the index of symmetry of G and is a function of its structural information content and the order of its automorphism group. Properties of S(G) are examined and applications to special classes of graphs are presented. In particular, the index of symmetry of a class of alkanes is shown to be ...
